The Bay of Fundy, between the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, has the highest tidal range in the world. The difference between high and low tide is 16.8 meters. Oceanographers attribute it to tidal resonance: the time it takes to go from the mouth of the bay to the inner shore and back is the same as the time from one high tide to the next.
